Legacy Diamond & Gems, located at the front range of the Big Horn Mountains, continues a six-decade tradition of jewelers in the Kraft family in Downtown Sheridan, Wyoming. Tom Kraft, owner of Legacy Diamond & Gems, recognized a niche for a jewelry store that could provide world-class goldsmiths who excel at the art of hand fabrication, repairs of all difficulty levels, and everything in between, all without ever leaving the store. At Legacy Diamond & Gems their philosophy is to listen, educate, and assist…… to help you, the client, make an informed decision, with a “new generation” jewelry store experience!

Our History

Kraft's Jewelry was founded on May 4th, 1964 by Richard Kraft after 6 years earlier, moving to Sheridan, Wyoming to take a job as a watchmaker in 1958. With aspirations beyond watchmaking, Richard decided to open up his own jewelry store, taking over Ann's Gift Shop and slowly turning it into a full on, fine jewelry store.
Sons Steve Kraft and Tom Kraft entered into the business in the early 1980's and over time took a more active role in day to day operations. In 1996 Steve Kraft, the oldest son, began the process of purchasing the business from his father and successfully ran the business until his retirement in 2017. In January of 2018 Steve's son Spencer Kraft and his uncle, Tom Kraft purchased the business and continued on the Kraft tradition of fine jewelry in Sheridan, all the while re-branding the business with a new dba of Legacy Diamond & Gems. This re-branding ranged from updating computer systems to the creation of a 800 piece interactive, hands on bridal center and eventually to a full store remodel in the fall of 2023. Tom's love of diamonds and gemstones came early on as he began studying the GIA diamonds course as a junior in high school, and finishing his GIA Graduate Gemologist degree in 1985.

Our committment to quality was instilled at an early age when Tom's father and founder, Richard Kraft, set the bar high, making sure the quality of every piece of jewelry, was created to the highest of standards!  Fine quality jewelry always has been the best value with the potential of it lasting for generations.  Each and every piece comes with a quality assurance guarantee and warranty.
Top quality in house repair and manufacturing services was also a top priority when Tom took over the family business.
Allen Ziegler and Cordel Morris, Graduate Bench Jewelers at Legacy Diamond & Gems, graduated the New Approach Jewelers School in Arrington, Tennessee. New Approach is one of the finest schools in the country, where it's graduates are highly sought after by jewelers all across the United States. Owner Tom Kraft said: “In my 42 years of being in the jewelry industry our team of jewelers are the most complete and perhaps the finest quality jewelers I have ever worked with”.  We are able to offer nearly 100% of our jewelry repairs done in house. 
The other cool thing about are jewelers...they are uncle and nephew!
